oooops! I almost forgot to post for music Monday. Almost :) Today’s song is *gasp* not indie rock. It’s a hip hop single from Drake. “Over” is from his upcoming first album, Thank Me Later, which STILL doesn’t have a release date. I like it. What do you think?

roooooooad trip!
I’m going to see Niagara Faaaaallls, I’m going to see Niagara Faaaaallls, I’m going to see Niagara Faaaaallls.
Sorry about that. I’m a bit excited. I’ve ALWAYS wanted to visit Niagara. I remember reading about it as a kid, being in awe and wanting to see it so badly. Well, my childhood dream (besides Disney world and riding in a hot air balloon) is coming true. Next week! Aaron and I are taking a road trip to see the falls from both sides and spend a little time site seeing in Buffalo, New York and Toronto, Canada! It’s actually not a bad drive. Only about 6 hours from here. Squee! I’m excited. We’ll be spending my birthday there too :3
Also, it’s on my list! I will get to knock off #4-Niagara Falls, #3- road trip, and another state off the list for #1.
This could be the end of me!
Aaron and I discovered a lovely dessert shop today. Almost Heaven in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

I love little quaint cafe’s/coffee shops and Almost Heaven is the only one I’ve spotted in our area (so far). It was definitely a treat when it didn’t disappoint! The shop has a very nice open space with the typical stage for open mic/acoustic shows and they were playing indie rock over the speaker. Yup, indie rock! I fell in love when I was able to sing along to 95% of the songs they played. It’s a rarity in West Virginia because I usually hear country or top 40 in a public place. In addition to the nice atmosphere and great music, they had a ton of desserts-a variety of cheesecakes, cookies, muffins, and drinks (oh my!) . Aaron ordered a German Chocolate cake and I got a fattening, but OH so yummy, Oreo cheesecake.

They were both delicious! I also got a chai tea, my personal favorite which I’m very picky about and guess what? It was perfect! PERFECT! Damn you little quaint dessert shop with your yummy cheesecake and your perfect chai tea, DAMN YOU! Good thing I’ve been running…CONSISTENTLY. I’m proud of myself! *rewards myself with more cheesecake*
Anyway, If you live in the area, pay a visit to Almost Heaven and if you don’t guess what?! You can order from them online! @ Almost Heaven Desserts.
*I’m not going to reward myself with more cheesecake.
also, non cheesecake related but just as awesome is a giveaway going on at the Epiphanie bag’s site! You can have a chance to win either a $2500 gift certificate for Southwest airlines OR an awesome Canon 5d Mark camera. Go enter, because if I don’t win, I want one of you to!
music monday!
Music Monday is a new weekly feature I’m adding to my blog. Every Monday I will feature a song that I’ve been obsessing over. Mostly indie rock and dancey electro, because that’s what I like! The first song isn’t very new. It’s on Beach House’s album Teen Dream that leaked waaay back in November, but was officially released last month. I love the entire album, but my favorite song is definitely “Zebra”. It’s so beautiful, relaxing and dreamy!
oh and happy March! I have a birthday this month!
My 101 list!
I finally did it! Last week I finally finished compiling my 101 list. You can check it out right here!
You will notice that since I’ve already knocked off 2 things from the list.
#98-Printing my list out and putting it on the fridge
#68- attend a comic con, which I blogged about yesterday.
and 1/10th of #1 which is to visit 10 states. I visited Pennsylvania for the con :)
It feels so awesome to cross something off the list. Thinking about tackling #89 today-making a snowman! You know, since there’s still a foot of snow on the ground! *dies*
steel city con
I am no longer a con-virgin. Me and boyface braved the snowy roads to attend the Steel City Con yesterday. I had a blast! It was just like I imagined-toys, collectibles, comics, and nerds. I spent a lot of time staring at 80s toys. I saw a lot of toys that I had when I was a kid-cabbage patch dolls, Legos, He-man dolls, Skeletor dolls, Ninja turtles! And a shit-ton of barbies!

And of course a ton of comics. I didn’t buy any comics because the ones I wanted were all in single issues and I prefer to buy them in collections, also known as Trade Paperbacks. Saw some “famous” people. Bo Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard was there and some WWE girls. And Darth Vader was there, a few storm troopers were walking around, the joker and Harley Quinn, and randomly, some pirates. *shrug*
Oh yah! Boyface and I got a caricature made. It’s of us as Link and Zelda

Glad I got to go. And hopefully there will be more in the future. I reaaaally want to go to THE con. Comic-con, San-Diego, but tickets have been sold out forever. *sigh*
Go, pickle, go!

Remember when I was raving about Plants vs. Zombies? I loooove that game. I even carved one of the characters into my pumpkin for halloween! That game took up a lot of my time for a couple of months. It is addicting! I still play it from time to time, but not as much since I completed it…twice ^_^ Well, now it’s available as an app on the iPhone. If you have an iPhone, GET IT! It costs $2.99, but it’s worth it. Definitely a great way to pass the time in a long line or during some boring lecture.
Ooh OOh OOH! Another rivalry that’s worth speaking of is a pickle vs. Nickelback. It’s a silly facebook page that someone created called “Can this pickle get more fans the Nickelback” the terrible, band from Canada. I lol’d so hard when I found the group and then I invited all of my friends. Nickelback IS terrible and I wanted the pickle to get twice the number of fans as that band. The pickle doesn’t have twice as many fans, but it has surpassed the amount of fans Nickelback has. WOOOHOOO! Go, Pickle, go!
I finally started braiding my hair last night. Did a couple hours last night and some today and I have 1/4 of my head to go! Go, Pinkie, go!
Batman and Robin comic generator!

Obviously that isn’t from a real comic. I made it in a generator. Go make your own at the Batman and Robin generator site. I’ve had WAAAAAY too much fun with it.

couch to 5k
I haven’t heard back from the employers yet! The guy who interviewed me told me he’d get back to me BY Friday (yesterday) about my second interview OR to let me know that he wasn’t interested. I HAVE HEARD NOTHING! :( I’m trying to think positive-”maybe he was busy!” “maybe he will call on Monday”. It’s kind of frustrating. Don’t promise that you’ll contact me by a certain time if you aren’t sure you can do it! *sigh* I did get another job offer. It’s in retail-something I swore I would never do again, but HEY! I need money, so I will gladly take it. And in the meanwhile I’ll keep applying for other jobs. Just this morning I applied for a position as an advertising sales rep for a newspaper, something I did for a few years in college and LOVED. Hoping for the best in all of these situations.
I guess this means I can enjoy Funemployment a little while longer (the hallmark job doesn’t offer very many hours). Reading comics, watching netflix, playing video games, and NOT GOING SHOPPING! Which is probably the thing that annoys me the most. I love shopping and it’s killing me that I can’t go. Especially now that they’re putting all of the new spring clothing out *dies*. I should also take this time to spend more time at the gym or running. It’ll be summer in no time and I have to be in a bathing suit (going to a beach wedding!) . The thought of me in one right now makes me want to barf!
So, with the inspiration of a blog post from Ms. Ebony and the Couch to 5k program, I will be starting a (new?) workout plan! I run/jog occasionally, but it’s very sporadic. With the help of the couch to 5k program which includes podcasts and apps, I’m hoping to be a little less sporadic and follow the program down to a tee! I’ll update you on my first week on Sunday and I’ll start tomorrow.
