I’m back in the netherlands. woot
The flight here was ok. I slept the entire time thanks to my lovely sleeping aids. Hopefully that will help against my jetlag. So far, so good. I’ve been awake since 8 am and no sign of tiredness yet.

Memphis was nice…yup. That’s me, the mississippi river, and the bridge that connects TN to Arkansas.
TOMORROW is halloween! My roomie and I are having a sort of get together/party thing. I’m kind of nervous because we haven’t done anything to prepare for it. Oh well, beer+our friends+music+costumes=fun times anyway.
and if it starts to suck we can always just go out :)
For all of you that don’t think WoW is serious business! Check again! Click
here to access a soundboard of a really, really, angry Guild leader as his guild fights Illidan. This is why I’m always on my toes during a raid! I’m too afraid to make mistakes. I’ve witnessed girls crying after being yelled at!
I’ve been wanting to write this post about the new updates in WoW, but I’m alwayd distracted by…WoW and haven’t been able to start it. Thank goodness for Tuesdays! Any WoW-er knows what I mean when I say that. Tuesdays are the days Blizzard takes down our precious servers to do maintenence and updates to the game. Hopefully they’re busy fixing all the problems that have been caused by Patch 3.0.2! Which is what I’m about to yap about.
Two weeks ago Blizzard launched Patch 3.0.2 which was a preparation patch. The updates and changes made during that patch are preparing us for Wrath of the Lich King, the expansion, that drops on November 13th (goodbye social life)! They made a lot of changes!
*Everyone has to respec their characters. Blizzard refunded the talent points. Now you have 51 points and new spells!
* I get no love from Blizz! Priests weren’t really nerfed, but they took away my night elf priest class racial! No more starshards! :(
*Locks got some cool updates including a new talents(affliction spec)
*And sorry. No news on other classes. I don’t read other classes updates, since I don’t play them. I do know the huntards got some new training ability because they’ve been training new pets! New annoying pets! The core hounds from Molten Core specifically. I wouldn’t mind these pets if they didn’t shake my entire screen when they walked by. arghh. Annoying. Blizzard, please fix it?
*Dungeons and raids from Karazhan to Sunwell have been nerfed! Every boss has had their health points lowered and do less spell damage. Thanks for making Kara even easier! As if we needed that. Now you can 5 man some bosses there that previously required an entire 10 man raid.
*There’s a new profession! Inscription! With this new profession Inscribers will be able to create glyphs for players that augment the cooldown, damage, or mechanics of spells. My priest has two and my warlock will get hers as soon as i research which is the best for her. I won’t be taking up this new professions as my lock still needs to level herbalism. (it’s at 27!)
*My favorite addition to the game is The Barber Shop! I’ve been looking forward to this addition for a looooong time as Ayda’s hair was not that cute. Barber shop is a barber shop in game that allows you to change your character’s hair style, hair color, facial hair, piercings, etc. I’ve been having fun with it! Too bad it’s costly. About 12g a visit.

I changed Apricot’s hair from long and dark, to short and reddish. I hated it and switched it about an hour later. To something a little longer and curlier than before, but still dark.
*My least favorite addition to the game is achievements! Gah! these things will be the end of me. Achievements are different goals for characters to meet. You get achievement points for each achievement completed. They range from exploring lands, completing dungeons, to /love-ing 98593829 animals scattered all across the world, to hugging someone’s corpse after they have died. I have to admit they are fun to do, but also annoying because I’ll never have as many achievements as my friends who are REALLY into getting them. Some achievements also reward you with titles. Apricot’s title is now Apricot Jenkins! hahaha, Because she completed the achievement of killing 50 whelps in the Upper Blackrock Spire’s rookery, the same place where Leeroy and his guild wiped in the video, under 15 seconds. Just for the LOLZ, here’s the Leeroy Video
still funny
*Eww! Blizz made items have +spell power instead of either +healing or +spell damage. Which isn’t such a bad thing, since I only have to carry one set of gear around on my healer. But it really sucked to have to disenchant some of my epics. OUCH!
better get used to it. I will probably be doing lots of disenchanting come November 13th!
ha! did I really just write my longest blog ever…on WoW!?
*hides in corner*
I remember my sister and I being so excited to go to the polls with my mom when we were children. She would take us with her and we would wait in line and go into the little booth with her. She even let us press the buttons! (I hope that wasn’t illegal :/) She always made sure that we knew how important it was for us, not just as blacks and women, to vote. She made sure we knew about the struggle, trouble, and blood in some cases, our fore bearers had to go through to secure us this right.
She and I went to vote earlier this week and it was just like old times! Except I got my own vote and there weren’t any old fashioned booths and buttons. Just a little touch screen. :)
Make sure you go out and vote(early or on election day)! If you’re abroad I hope you’ve already sent off for your absentee ballot! It’s really important for this election!
And for your information, I voted for Obama. Not because he’s black, but because he’s the best candidate. And oh you know, because I care about my healthcare, my uterus, and my future. Fuck Mccain/Palin! I seriously don’t understand how any person that’s middle class or lower, has a uterus, or is sane could vote for them.
I’m back. The flight to Memphis was meh. It was 10.5 hours long due to a thunderstorm in the Netherlands that hit right after we departed. And of course right before we boarded I got my period. I should’ve seen it coming. This week I’ve been so emotional and a huge fat ass. Just ask my roomie how much chocolate/ice cream I’ve eaten. Oh and my iPod died. Great start! Luckily, I had an entire middle row to myself. That’s right, 4 seats to myself. I raised the armrests and laid across the chairs like a bed. It was magnificent. In between sleeping I watched some movies. I watched Great Expectations- I’ve seen it before, but because I’m in an emotional, “in-like” mood, it made me angry, made me laugh and cry. hahaha. Definitely pulled at my heartstrings.I watched The Fall for the first time. It was great and beautifully filmed. Rent it! I’d like to see it again in a more relaxed setting. I also watched harry Potter 2-I’ve seen it dozens of time, it’s always good and “Must Love Dogs” which was the worst romantic comedy ever. It took a lot to get through it.
I’m enjoying being back. Though the reason I’m here is unfortunate. I spoke to my cousin’s father yesterday. I find myself not knowing what to say in situations like this. I thought that I was going to be strong and have some great uplifting things to say, but I’m the one that ended up losing it on the phone and he had to ask if I was ok. He and his wife are trying their hardest to be strong. Trying to accept it and go on. I can’t imagine how they feel right now. Thanks so much for all of your thoughts and condolences. I really appreciate it.
I updated my website. (Well, Jim uploaded it and did all the complicated stuff. Errr…complicated to me, at least. It took him like 2 minutes to do it. )So, update your links! My blog will be located at www.pinkielarue.com and not at the word press address. I found a theme I semi-like. Meh…but I want one that I love! If anyone knows of any cool sites with themes for download, let me know! Also, check out my new links to the right. Added some more friend’s blogs to my blogroll and new links under the Me!, Sites I think are cool, and World of Warcraft section. LOL
Speaking of World of Warcraft…there was a huge patch to the game and lots of new and exciting things have been introduced in preparation of the expansion! Expect some rambling post about it. Hahaha
Tomorrow I will be going to the states. Unfortunately, not for such a joyous occasion. My cousin was shot and killed on Monday night. He was so young.
R.I.P. CJ. You will be missed!
Last night I returned from my weekend getaway to Sweden/Denmark. It was needed! I desperately needed to be away from work and Amsterdam. I have now returned, relaxed and renewed. Though work is really starting to be a pain. Not sure how long I can keep doing it…more on that later!
On Thursday, I barely made it to the airport in time for my flight, but I made it! woohoo! The procrastination princess prevails again! The flight to Copenhagen was quick. I had a glass of wine, cookie, and read about 3/4′s of “Cat’s Cradle”(more on that later). Pleasant flight. I arrived in Copenhagen and immediately ran to catch a train to malmo where I switched trains and enjoyed a dark trip to Lund. As soon as I got off the train there was Per waiting for me! It was such a great feeling. Not only because it was nice to see him since I had missed him so much! , but also because I kind of freak out in unfamiliar places with an unfamiliar language. I arrived fairly late so we had tea, talked, and stayed up all night just enjoying each other’s company.
Friday morning Per had to go to class and I stayed in bed and made up for the hours we were awake the previous night. He came home after his class with the yummiest falafel and we hung out and talked more. The rest of the day was pretty lazy. We went to a sauna. How Scandinavian?! It was my first time ever. Needless to say I was more uncomfortable than relaxed. I eventually relaxed. I want to try it again! Haha, I learned the “scandinavian etiquette” for entering and leaving the sauna. It’s pretty much “DON’T TAKE YOUR TIME! JUST GET OUT AND CLOSE THE DOOR BEHIND YOU”. Per said that’s typical of every dad when a child leaves the sauna. They wanted the sauna to stay as warm as possible. After sauna we played some video games with his friends and had dinner.
That night, Per had a gig DJ-ing at the nation he’s a part of, Blekingska. Nations, from what I understand, are similar to fraternities. They cater to certain people. There’s one that’s primarily for anarchists, a political nation, and Blekingska is considered an indie/alternative nation and there’s more! It was super cool and not lame like a frat house. It’s much more like a club and the atmosphere is different. I didn’t have the required student ID so, I was put on the guest list as the guest dj. Bwahaha. I didnt do anything except stand behind the DJ booth and look cute. Only for a bit though as I had some dancing on the dance floor to attend to!
Good times were had that night and the next day we ventured to a city called Malmo. We walked around, I got to admire Swedish architecture, and green parks, had a yummy lunch, and found a castle! The only thing I truly, truly, wanted to see in this trip. haha. It wasn’t that impressive, but I was satisfied.
It was built in 1530′s and was the place where Mary Queen of Scot’s third husband was imprisoned. (the more you know…) After walking around what seemed forever we met up with his friends. We hung out at their place and pre partied. They told me this was very much a Swedish thing and I thought…it’s very much an everybody thing! And was whisked back to memories of chugging “tall boys” of beer with my friends before the bar. *Ahh, memories* We went to Debaser to see Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin! A band I semi like and wanted to see. I appreciate that Per went with me even though he hates them. He even danced along. The show was meh, but the after party was so much fun. Spent the night dancing away to indie hits. By the way, Sweden as a whole is hipster land. Everyone there is a hipster…or at least dresses like one. The rest of the weekend was pretty chill. All in all a great weekend.
Know what I didn’t do? Have a freaking meatball! :(
From Sweden ^_^
My friend Jeremy is a master of mix cd’s. I’ve been lucky to receive more than 75 personalized mixes(just a guess…could be waaaaay more!) from him throughout the years since we dated for half our lives. Ok, not half our lives, but forever. He makes the best/most diverse mixes and YOU can download a new one every week. You don’t even have to date him! He posts a new mix each week on his blog with tons of up and coming artists and some old school peeps as well. Check it out!
