My first day went well! I had orientation for about an hour and then I was thrown right into working. The orientation included learning the products we are selling, folding, how to organize them, counting the booth, credit card machines, just everything that comes along with selling the wicked merchandise. I was the only noob there. The other people were seasoned merch. A couple of them enjoyed working the show so much in the last city, that they drove down to work this one for 3 more weeks. Luckily I was paired with one of them. Me and another girl worked the FIRST booth you see when you enter the theatre. Last night was opening night. It was crazy! Well, not crazy, but for my first time I was a bit overwhelmed. But it was the fun kind of overwhelming. Sold a ton of overpriced crap that I would never buy. We sell for about 30 minutes before the show, 20 minutes during intermission and about 30 minutes after the show. The rest of the time, we are just hanging out. I get more breaks than I actually work and I get paid for it. Score! The theatre is located downtown so I spent yesterday’s breaks walking around on the phone. I know I give Memphis a lot of shit sometimes, but downtown is really pretty.
I’m off to get ready! Working two shows today

Guys! I got a job! *dance* A temporary job, but a job nonetheless! I will be working for Wicked, the musical while it’s in town. Hopefully I’ll get to see the show too! I’ve been meaning to read the books for years now, but never got around to it. I do however know the songs- thanks to former co-workers playing the soundtrack ALL THE TIME when I worked for the newspaper. I have a sort of uniform. In addition to shirts they will provide me with, I have to wear pants/jeans. Weird! I haven’t worn jeans in a looong time. My wardrobe consists of skirts, dresses, cords, slacks, and khakis! I had 2 pair of jeans in the last year, but I rarely wore them and guess what?! I tossed them when I was moving back to the states-I figured I didn’t wear them(and I couldn’t fit everything into 2 suitcases), so why not? Little did I know, I would need them now. Oh well, gave me an excuse to go shopping. I went only for a pair of jeans, and came back with a pair of jeans, some cuuute black mary janes, undies, new sunglasses, and a top. ^_^ I can never just get what I go in for.
In other news, I have decided that I will install windows on Macauly (my mac) at the end of the summer. I’m not a fan of windows operating systems, but I am a fan of gaming! And i’m sick and tired of games I’m interested in playing being released only for windows platforms! bleh! Instead of missing out this time, I will install windows. The game I dont want to miss out on? Aion-The Tower of Eternity ! It’s a massively multiplayer online role-playing game by NCsoft similar to their other games, Lineage and Guild Wars. Oh and also similar to a game I talk about far too much-Blizzard produced, World of Warcraft. ^_^ Today NCsoft announced that Aion would be released in September. After reading about it, seeing the screenshots (Holy crap the graphics are awesome), and reading reviews of the beta players, I am excited and can’t wait.
Memphis held it’s Gay Pride festivities this weekend. I was lucky enough to be a volunteer for my most favorite non profit ever! Planned Parenthood (PPH)! I worked the PPH booth at the Gay Pride Festival, walked for them in the Pride Parade, and I worked the booth that morning at the Black Pride conference. I had a lot of fun and met a lot of people. Some cute little fairy boys, some interns, other volunteers, and directors of local Memphis non-profits who will hopefully contact me if they have a job opening. I gave them my info and let them know I was interested in a job within the non profit sector. I’m not counting on anything, but at least now when I apply for one of their jobs, I can attach a little note or something reminding them of our “meeting” and my volunteer work. Oh! I learned a new talent. I now know how to put a condom on a penis using my mouth. “Look ma! No hands!” hehe, well I learned how to on a fake penis that’s used for demonstration purposes. Now to see if it will work on the real thing! >.< The only thing I will complain about is the heat. It had to be at least 103 degrees and I was walking down that street during the hottest part of the day. It felt like the sun was just walking in the parade behind me. As soon as we got to the end of the parade, we went to our tent and proceeded to squirt each other with a water gun full of ice cold water! It felt soooooooo good.
Today, I've been a little down. I know when I get a job, I'll be missing these days -- I can sleep in, read comics, and surf the internet. But right now, all I want is a job! I don't regret quitting my horrid job, but I do miss money, a normal sleep schedule, and having something to do. I feel like I've applied to a million jobs and not one has called me back for an interview. Besides the job thing, I guess reality has set in that I'm actually living in America again and all the things that I dislike about living here are becoming more apparent. But I'm trying to keep a positive outlook on things! I know it will get better. Just need a job, to move out of the mom's, and some friends/social life. I have a few friends, but they're always at work, have their other friends, or we've grown apart and I don't feel like we have anything in common. Who wants to be my friend!? I'm nice! I will play video games with you and drink beer, and play with our dogs in the park, watch True Blood with you, and, and, anything*!
*ok, ok...not ANYTHING, but a lot of things ^_^
Hey Memphis! It’s Gay Pride weekend!
Please come celebrate diversity at the Mid-South Pride festival! The festival starts at Peabody Park at noon and the parade starts at 4PM at First Congo church! (If you want to march in the parade, be there at 3) Hope to see you there!

Have you ever accidentally got drunk? I’m infamous for it when it comes to Buffalo Wild Wing’s beers. I went to BWW with Jeremy today and had 2 Blue Moons. My forgetfulness about how big the beers are, paired with my (newly) lowered tolerance caused me to be DRUNK very quickly. I passed out for 3 hours as soon as I got home which is why I’m wide awake at 2 am.
I changed my blog layout! What do you think about it? I love it! The little apple in the upper left hand corner sold me. He’s so cute! I found the theme from the wordpress site. It’s by Billion Studio. They have quite a few cool and free layouts so if you’re looking for a change, check them out.
While clicking links on a craft blog that I read, I found the cutest blog ever-Color Me Katie. I absolutely love it. It’s filled with the cutest photographs of she and her boyfriend, arts/craft/decorating ideas, and her amazing art work. I spent an hour or two catching up on all of her posts last night. My favorite post, documents (in photos) Katie showing her neighborhood some love. She cut hearts out of pink tape and stuck them around her hood! I found it really lovely! I posted a few pictures here, but you should check out the other pictures and read her original post found here.

Oh you know, because yellow earbuds just aren’t fashionable enough…for sleeping!
Friday evening
I’m in the middle of a thunderstorm. It just knocked the power out in my neighborhood. So, I’m writing this in stickies! Besides the absence of power, I love thunderstorms. I love watching them, hearing the thunder, hearing the rain against the ground, seeing the rain being blown all kinds of ways, the wind blowing the trees…LOVE IT! Whenever I talk of my love for thunderstorms, my mom tells the story of how her water broke and she was rushed to the hospital to have me during a terrible thunderstorm.
That’s footage from the storm.
I went to the doctor today about my panic attacks. I thought he would just write me a prescription for some xanax and send me happily on my way home, but he didn’t. He thinks I may have a panic disorder and ADHD. I have an appointment with a more specialized psych guy in a couple of weeks. I’ll keep you guys updated because I know you’re dying to know…not
Anyway, since I have NOTHING else to do. I organized my photos and went through videos on my computer. I found some funny SHAREABLE videos. There are plenty funny non-shareable ones, but I think my friends would murder me if I posted them (I’m looking at you, emily and devynn! from devnn’s last night at belushi’s!). So, here are two shareable ones.
wtfkitty? On vacation in Florence, Italy I spied with my little eye a cat in a canal!
I went on vacation with my Dutch family. One morning while I was taking a shower, one of the kids found my camera and made a bunch of videos. I found this one of the youngest jumping on my brand new macbook (at the time!)
ok, off to eat the melting ice cream. ^_^
Saturday morning
We are still without power! It sucks! What have I been doing? Well, my mom and I used the last 2 hours of power my macbook battery had to watch episodes of Arrested Development and one of Katt William’s dvds. He is hilarious. After it died, I was completely bored. We live outside of Memphis in a semi-rural area. When the sun sets and there are no street lights you see nothing! We lit candles, got a bottle of wine and listened to my battery operated hello kitty radio! It’s very important that you know that it was Hello Kitty. That only lasted for a little while as I had enough of that music and my mom. I chugged enough wine to get me as drunk as possible. My mom cut me off so I only got a bit tipsy. No worries. It was enough to knock me out for a few hours. I woke up at 3 am bored as hell. I couldn’t read *note to self-invest in a book light* so I just layed in bed staring at the walls. I eventually got up and took some pills that knocked me out until this morning. I’m happy to report that there were only 2 accidents in our house. 1-When the refridgerator defrosted it created a huge puddle of water on the floor. I discovered the hard way. I slipped and fell bruising my ankle. 2-The second accident happened last night. One of the candles burned the candle holder and it was in flames for about a minute and ash was everywhere! Now we’re having lunch at Mcdonald’s. Everyone else had the same idea because it is crowded. Unfortunately, this Mcd’s has no wireless so I am still posting from stickies! Alright, my mom and I are going to watch Weeds and then we are off to her cousin’s house. He still has power!
Sunday
ELECTRICITY HAS RETURNED!
Since i quit my job, my life has been pretty uneventful. I wish I had even World of Warcraft news to report, but I don’t. Haven’t been playing for the last couple of days. I recently told a friend I haven’t logged in since THURSDAY which I thought was a huge deal. His response? “ZOMG SO LONG!” with such sarcasm. It sure feels like it even though It’s only been 5 days.
Instead I’ve been reading. I borrowed Jeremy’s collection of The Sandman by Neil Gaiman. So far, so good. It’s a graphic novel about Morpheus, Lord of Dreams, taking revenge on the people who kept him captive for 70 years and the rebuilding of his kingdom which has fallen into despair. I USED to read it at night before bed, not anymore! I scared myself after reading and couldn’t sleep one night. I think this is also the reason why I had the epic nightmare 2 nights ago. I haven’t had nightmares in ages and then all of a sudden I get an epic nightmare which one day I’ll turn into a short story. I mean…it was EPIC! I couldn’t even go back to sleep afterwards.
Also, been hanging out with real people instead of just my in game peeps, watching lot of movies/tv. I recently watched
*Stardust-omg such a cute, sweet, movie!
*Coraline-great animation and the story line was good too
*Vicky Christina Barcelona-Lovely views of Barcelona and Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson make out…need I say more!?
*Arrested Development-I’m the last person in the universe to watch this series, I know. It’s so funny! When I first started watching it I thought it was bland and didn’t really like it very much, but now I think it’s hilarious. I crack up laughing all the time and even hot my mom hooked!
*Nurse Jackie-it just premiered last week on Showtime. I watched it, liked it and will probably watch it again
And now by the request of my sister after finding out that I didn’t know who Speidi is (it’s Spencer and Heidi by the way) I am watching The Hills season 1 >.<
I've also been jogging. having a dog I am forced to go to the park anyway, so why not jog/run? There's a HUGE track at the park I go to, so for a few weeks now I've been jogging. I'm not a runner by any means(I used to be! ran cross country and track from junior high through high school!) though I do love to run! I see my endurance getting better and I can actually see a little weight loss. woot woot. OH! And shopping! How does a broke girl manage to shop? I thrift!
I’m a fan on vintage dresses so, even when I’m not broke I shop at thrift stores. I bought 4 dresses in the last 2 weeks. My favorites are this red one and the blue/white one. I’ve worn the blue/white one with white sandals. The red is my absolute fave, but I won’t wear it until it gets cooler. It’s polyester. Bwahaha. >.<
I’ve applied for a thousand and one jobs and have yet to hear from any of them to interview me. Not stressing…yet. and still looking. Before I moved back to the states I said I would never work in childcare again. I decided to forget about that and apply to some preschools for the summer. So, today I am taking my resume to some places in Bartlett and Cordova.
Have a lovely day!
I feel the need to give this topic the respect that it needs. Last week another act of violence was committed against a trans woman in Memphis. She was shot in the nose and throat by her attacker because she “misled him about her gender.” She’s still alive and in critical condition.
Sadly, it happens quite often here. I was shocked to learn that in the last 2 years five trans women have been shot in Memphis. 3 of those resulting in deaths. It really disgusts me! Just because of differences. I find it ridiculous that in this day and age people can’t show tolerance. Come on! No one is asking you to be ok and agree with their lifestyle, but be tolerant of it. Please? If you disagree with how they are living don’t take it out in violence against them. What does that solve?! Nothing.
I wish I knew a way to solve this-these hate crimes. Education maybe? But where do we start? At home? I do think that parents need to start instilling tolerance in their children at young ages. They need to teach their children that it’s ok to be different. And not just with race, which is the only tolerance I remember being taught about, but teaching them tolerance of people with different backgrounds, sexual orientations, religion, life choices, everything! But what happens when the parents don’t agree with tolerance of such things and don’t teach their kids!? Then who do the children learn from!? And what about the parents that instead of passing down the need for tolerance do the exact opposite and pass down more intolerance!? And what about all of the people in the world that are ALREADY intolerant of differences? How are we supposed to reach them!? ahhh! This kind of stuff frustrates me to no end…
I guess I’ll never know the answer, but I do think tolerance would help. Maybe then we wouldn’t have to hear about Dr. Tiller being murdered for his choice to perform late term abortions. Maybe then I wouldn’t be reading about the 3 murders of memphis transgendered women, Leeneshia Edwards, Tiffany Berry and Ebony Whitake.
My heart goes out not only to Kelvin Denton as he recovers in critical care RIGHT NOW, but to victims of any hate crimes, the ones we’ve lost and to all of their families.
