Today I lost a friend. A friend I’ve known since before I even wore a bra! We haven’t been close for years. Not since before I moved to Holland- but we’ve always kept in touch. Since I’ve been back in Memphis we’ve talked about meeting up, but you know how that goes sometimes. You never find enough time to do it. I wish I had. I never knew that she’d be gone so soon and I’d never be able to.

I’ll never forget Sundays in youth group, listening to stories about your travels around Europe, our dumb nicknames for each other, stopping into your bar to say hello whenever I was in town, and all the laughs we shared throughout the years. Hey friends! it’s been awhile. But I have an excuse! I’ve been busy. Working 40 hours a week+tutoring on the side+being awake at weird hours to talk to a boy across the world means I don’t blog as much as I’d like to. Who am I kidding? even when I wasn’t this busy I didn’t blog regularly!
I don’t want to bore you with a long post about my last week and a half so here’s the abridged short list version.
I’ve been having really LOOOOOONG days at work
and tutoring afterwards a couple of days a week
was in the hospital and out of work for a couple of days last week
returned to work this week to 100% better
bought some cowboy boots from DSW!!!
took a small unexpected trip to Nashville last weekend
got my hair braided
got a flu shot, bought some new comics, hung out with Allison and some old friends, dealt with a fire at work today! (craaaazy!) and basically just been chilling ^_^
I resurrected my Tumblr. Yes, yes, yet another site from me! ^_^ Ive had it for awhile, but haven’t been active on it lately. I think that will change now that I downloaded the iPhone app, Tumblerette. (everything is so much easier to do/remember with the iPhone) So, check it out! It’s mostly random pictures I snag from online, snap on my iphone and sometimes songs that I think the world should hear.

Unless you live under a rock, then you know about Kanye’s west douche-baggery that went on at the VMA’s this week. I didn’t even watch the VMAs. Hell, I don’t even have MTV, but within minutes of Kanye’s outburst happening, I had heard all about it. In case you somehow missed it, here’s the clip
I agree with everyone else that this was a complete douchebag move on Kanye’s part. However, something good has come out of this…the Kanye meme’s! I have been dying of laughter at the Kanye meme’s that have taken over the internet. I’m finally feeling better! For the past week and a half, I’ve been sick with some mysterious sickness that had me coughing, puking, nauseous, sniffly, sneezy…I have no idea what it was, but it’s gone. Thank heavens.
Even though I was sick I went to work all week-hopped up on meds (which I left out in the children’s reach one day…whoops), but by god I was there! I can’t afford to miss days if I don’t absolutely have to. I’m saving up for my vacations! The big one in December and of course some mini ones before then. I’m going to visit the bf in October, a couple of weeks before that I’m taking a little weekend trip with Allison to Eureeka Springs, Arkansas, and at the end of this month I’m taking a weekend trip to Nashville to visit my sister/see The Walkmen! A favorite band of mine that I have yet to see live. Can’t wait!
In other music news, the new mountain goats cd leaked! If you have spent anytime around me, I’m sure you know how I feel about the mountain goats, if you haven’t…then you’ll just have to take last.fm’s word for it

I had an internal conflict for about 5 minutes on whether I should wait to buy and listen to the album when it is released or snag it online a month before…
I snagged it and have listened to it a crap-ton of times. Not sure how I feel about it yet-which is typical of me with a band I adore. It took me months to decide how I felt about Radiohead’s “in Rainbows” and now it’s one of my favorite albums. So, only time will tell. Check out this interview Pitchfork did with John Darnielle, the singer/songwriter of the mountain goats. The article goes into detail about the new album, how he came up with the idea for it, how it came to be…that kind of stuff. Read it! It’s super interesting! Well, to me anyway. I encourage you to buy the new album when it is released on October 6th! I know, I know, I know- I snagged it early, but I’ll be purchasing a copy. AND I’LL BE SEEING SEE THE MOUNTAIN GOATS IN NOVEMBER!!! OMGOMGOMGOMGOG!

Oh and I finished a scarf this week. A really thick, black scarf that I knitted in a rib stitch. I’m either sending it to a friend in Sweden or keeping it for myself. Haven’t decided yet. Tomorrow I’m going to the yarn shop to pic up some nice, soft, grey yarn and start on my next scarf! A scarf for my long time friend and fellow blogger, Kizzy!

I ordered shirts from Threadless! And if you didn’t notice, I changed my blog’s layout…BACK to the previous one which I adore and missed.
I also love my “A is for jerks” shirt, but it’s a little snug for me to feel comfortable wearing alone, so I’ve been wearing it under a jumper dress!

Arghhhh! I’ve been shopping for a car for 2 weeks now to no avail! Car shopping is so stressful. I went to some dealerships this weekend and found nothing that I like. Well, I did see a Volvo that I fancy, but it doesn’t come with warranty and I definitely need one. The salesman at one of the dealerships told me that I was being very picky. Uhh, of course I’m being picky! It’s not a pair of jeans! It’s a car that I’ll be investing a lot of money into! Excuse me for wanting something I actually like. He took my number and told me he’d call this week because he’s getting something he thinks I’d love. By now he knows what I love and what I hate so he may have hit the jackpot! or at least that’s what I’m hoping for. :/
Work, work, work. It’s going well! Know how I’ve been constantly complaining about the kids being too young for my liking?! Well, I’ve had a change of heart and these mini people have sure grown on me. At first, I thought it was terrible that they are such noobs at life and don’t really know how to do anything, but now I find it exciting! I’ve only been working for 3.5 weeks now and I’ve heard 1 year olds say words for the first time, seen them drink out of a cup for the first time, use utensils! Its crazy how far they’ve come in just weeks! I look forward to seeing them age during this year. Even though I am dreading potty training. *puke* Speaking of potty training. A kid from one of the older classes ( who should be potty trained) had an accident outside yesterday. It was really hilarious/disgusting. A few classes, including mine, were out on the playground. After hearing screams, we( the teachers) looked over to see a kid with her pants/undies down around her ankles screaming that she’s wet. That’s normal. No one was too worried about it and her teacher went to get her to take her in for clean up when suddenly out pops two huge turds! It was soooooo disgusting and unexpected! She was just standing there. No squatting, no nothing, just poop on the ground.
My macbook is being weird. For whatever reason, my p and j keys aren’t working. Taking it to the Genius Bar when I can and crossing my fingers that the problem is covered under applecare. Until then its copy and pasting for me!
SO yesterday on the way to work I heard an interesting story on the radio. It was, in my opinion, the worst first date in the history of the world!!!!
Terrance Dejuan McCoy, 23, met his 27-year-old date at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Ferndale, Mich., according to The Daily Tribune.
At the end of dinner, McCoy — who told the woman his name was ‘Chris’ — allegedly said he left his wallet in her car and went to get it.
‘She gave him her keys and he went out the door,’ Ferndale Police Det.-Sgt. Patrick Jones told the Michigan-based paper.
‘From where she was sitting, she saw him get in her car and he drove off at a high rate of speed.’”
I know it’s awful, but I laughed. How terrible!? I can’t believe he stole her car!
I tryed to rack my brain to think of my worst first date and I can’t think of one. I’ve generally had awesome first dates. Oh, oh oh! There was this one guy who I nicknamed “chapstick guy” because of our first date. The date wasn’t that bad, but he was just odd. We went out to dinner and to a concert. I guess he was feeling sparks at dinner or maybe the music inspired him to do so, but he was constantly trying to hold my hand at the concert. I couldn’t believe it! This was the first time we were hanging out and he was trying to hold my hand. I don’t even do that very often with guys I date! I allowed him let him hold it for about 4 seconds then I took it away. But he grabbed it again! This repeated a couple of times. I finally started using the excuse that I needed to put chapstick on so I can have a reason for him to NOT hold my hand. I reapplied and reapplied all night. hahha. Not such a bad first date, but it was really annoying. What about YOU!? Tell me about your worst first date!
