a blog about geeky things and snippets of my life
Ive officially been in West Virginia for two weeks now. During these two weeks I’ve learned that
-the bf forgets to put the toilet seat down more often than not (Im gonna put a post it over it reminding him)
-Even though not technically in the south, West Virginians are a lot like southerners. They always are very polite and make conversation any chance they get
-grocery stores here have beer, wine, and hard liquor!
-my Xbox is for streaming netflix first, and then gaming-I’ve watched SOOOO many movies and finished Generation Kill and finally picked up where I left off in The L Word! I’m starting season 4 tomorrow
-My hate for FPS’s (first person shooters like halo, left 4 dead, call of duty, etc.) has disappeared!
-a banana split from The Poky Dot (a little diner here) is NOT for one person. It’s not even for 2 people! The bf and I ordered a banana split and received this!

-aaaaaand that i need a job!
I’ve actually applied at a couple of places. I’ve received the “we got your application and will get back to you soon” replies. Hopefully, someone will get back to me soon. Until then I’ll enjoy my freedom and apply for other jobs. :P
(and yes, I changed my blog theme again! I’m always on the search for a theme that feels like home! Let’s see how long this lasts.)
I love making plans ,but when I do I usually ended up not following through with them oooor remixing them and doing something completely different than what I was meant to do (need to work on this!). Which means, even though the boyface and I went to Pittsburgh we didn’t do everything that I planned. I planned on going to the Phipps Conservatory, but the morning of I changed my mind and decided I’d rather visit the Carnegie Museum of Art! Good choice, if I must say so myself.

In other news, I think I’ve finally cured my insomnia! For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been having trouble sleeping. I found myself going to bed, but waking up 3-4 hours later, and not being able to fall back asleep until the next night. I don’t know how I was functioning on such little sleep, but I was. I finally, after people suggesting it for years, tried Melatonin. It’s a supplement that relaxes you and helps you to fall asleep and natural. Even though it’s natural, I still hope that after a week or so, my schedule will be regulated and I’ll be able to sleep a whole night through without it’s help. We shall see!
I’m here! Made it to West Virginia Tuesday night after an 11 hour drive with plenty of stops so Peanut could potty. So, far i’m digging it. I’ve been here many times before so it’s not completely foreign to me.
Tomorrow the boyface and I are going to Pittsburgh! Which, besides their airport, is completely foreign to me. I’m excited about seeing a new city and getting to know it. We’re going to the Phipps Conservatory, a nice dinner(it’s our 5 month!), Ikea for some shopping for the apartment, and H&M for shopping for me! I’m WAY too excited about the latter two. We don’t have either of the two in the Memphis area, so I haven’t been to an Ikea or and H&M since I lived in Holland.
*squeeeeeee*
That’s my excitement ^_^
My city has been going CRAZY for the last couple of days about a “snow storm”. The grocery stores have been packed with people stocking up for this “snow storm”. The weatherman said 1-2 inches…I don’t even think it’s an inch outside! Some schools are out today and the schools that aren’t out have been calling into the local news station complaining that they aren’t out!
Excuse me?! This is hardly snow. I was so disappointed when I woke up. I was looking forward to some snow. :( I didn’t expect a lot, but sheesh, I expected to not be able to see the grass poking up! I shouldn’t be surprised. This is the south and that ^^ is how we roll, when it comes to snow. Ah, well, I should stop complaining. Next week this time, I’ll be living with the boyfriend in a place that is getting 6-8 inches just today. I’m sure after being excited about the snow for a few days I’ll be wishing for this “snow storm” then. Peanut did better than I expected. He hates being wet so I assumed he would do his business and hide under the car as he does in the rain. Wrong! Instead he was really curious. He kept licking and sniffing the snow. It was really cute! I don’t have a pic of him outside, but here’s a cute pic I have to share! He was laying on my pillow this morning. Normally, I would’ve pushed him aside, but he looked so adorable I didn’t even dare.

First blog post of the year! haaaaaaay-o!
I didn’t officially make any resolutions. But I will continue to tell myself the same things I tell my self all year long- make healthier choices, smarter financial choices, exercise and stay focused! Let’s hope this year I actually stick to these things!
I’m working on a 101 list, like some of my blogger friends have done. It’s basically a 101 item to-do list for yourself and the deadline is 1001 days from the day you start it. My incomplete list is here if you’re curious. I’ll probably finish it sometime this week and start the timer!
Remember when I said I was going on open-ended visit to the bf’s? Well, it’s happening really soon. And by really soon I mean within the next week. Now that the time is here, I’m actually getting a bit nervous about the whole thing. Thinking “Is this the right choice?” “omg, wtf am I doing?” But I’m still really excited and going…so obviously not having EXTREME second thoughts.
I applied to a Radiology program in November. I was going to keep this news hush, hush, until I found out if I was accepted or not, but I cant hold it in. It’s not that I don’t want to do nursing, it’s just that after researching and talking to people that work in radiology, I found it more interesting. If I don’t get accepted into the program(which I probably wont! Only 18 people are accepted and 350 apply), I’ll just continue nursing-but if I do get in, Helllllllooooo Radiology! I’ll know by the end of February.
Cross your fingers.
