Phew! And Monday is over. 1 work day down, 4 more to go. Actually 3 more to go! I am using one of my vacation days and taking off Wednesday. No reason really. I just feel that I’ve been working entirely too much and I want a day off to sleep in and run some errands.
I had a good weekend. Finally stopped putting it off and went to the optometrist. I’ve worn glasses nearly all my life, but for the last couple of years I’ve gotten into a bad habit of not wearing them and just squinting or straining my eyes to see everything. I usually just pop my (out of date prescription) glasses on if I am at a theatre or driving. My optometrist informed me that my eyesight has gotten worse and my new prescription is almost twice as strong as my last. eek! I ordered not one, but two pair of new glasses. If I’m going to have to wear them ALL the time, I need options. :) I’ll post pics when I get them back, sometime this week. I also spent a lot of my Saturday in a salon getting my hair done. Got it straightened+extensions+curls. A style I re-visit every few months

Spent Saturday evening celebrating Allison’s birthday. We went downtown for dinner and then drinking around midtown. I was kind of meh all night because I’m currently a PMS-ing, moody, emotional, Pinkie at the moment. But she had a blast, which is all that matters since it was her birthday! There have been a lot of birthday’s this month! A lot of parent’s were getting it on at Valentine’s Day. Bow chicka wow wow! So, Happy Birthday to all you out there especially my sister Nina, and my friends Heather, Alena, Bettina, and Allison. OOOh! I bought the cutest gift for Heather. She is a sushi lover. Like, big time. She even dressed as a sushi roll for Halloween a couple of years ago. So, I let her choose out her favorite stuffed sushi roll!
Aren’t these adorable?! I’m gonna order two for myself. Probably the salmon and the shrimp roll. You can find them over at ThinkGeek. (kudos to steven for the link!)
I didn’t cry when I first heard the news. In fact, I didn’t even believe it. I was selling merch during intermission when a little girl told her mom, “Michael Jackson is dead. Mary Beth just sent me a text” The mom and I both looked at each other with eyes of skepticisim. Her mom assured me that “Mary beth don’t know nothing, and it couldn’t possibly be true” . During after show sales many more people were at the register talking of his death. I still thought it was a silly internet rumor until I got home that night and found out from every news station.
It broke my heart to find out it was reality. I know I didn’t know him personally and it seems a bit ridiculous even to me that I am so upset by it, but I am. My mom grew up watching him and dancing along to he and his brothers during the 60s. And as a child of the 80s I grew up listening /watching him during his solo years. We LOVED MJ. Nina(my sister) and I especially. I remember a time when it seemed like we only had 2 VHS’s. We alternated between watching 2 videos- A VHS with a Paul Simon Africa concert and Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker. He was a great performer (with a shady past. I’m not overlooking that) who will definitely be missed. Another person being missed in my life, especially today, is my little cousin. He would’ve been 21 today, but was murdered in October. I miss him like crazy and thought about him all day. Happy Birthday and R.I.P. C.J.
Work is good. I’ve seen the show about 5 times now. I’m not even a fan of musicals and I really enjoyed it. If you get a chance to see Wicked, see it! It’s really good.
I have nothing more to say. Everything is well in my world and I hope in yours as well

My birthday has come and gone. It was such a lovely time. I had a blast. There was cake, beer, and most importantly friends! We started out drinking/hanging out at my place and out on the later went out on the town. We had a blast. Some a little more than others ;) But this is neither the place nor the time. I also scored some awesome gifts! An XBOX 360! with some games including Street Fighter 4!, an amazing homemade cake, some chocolates and candy from poland, lots of booze, a cosmetic case, a lovely hardcover for my new macbook and flowers. Thanks for all the wishes as well! I added a photo album to my photos page. You can find it here.
Hmm, the rest of the weekend was pretty chill. Just hung around playing World of Warcraft and hanging out with Tony who spent the weekend here.
I really want some chinese food. From the states. It tastes different(better!) there.
It’s that time of year again! My birthday is just around the corner. *dances* I am turning 26. Wow…that is sort of old. Oh well, my mom says “It’s a blessing, stop complaining” and she’s right. I’m healthy, happy, and my life is pretty okay. I have nothing to complain about.
I got a birthday present the other day (14 days early…hehe)! It was a donation in my name to Planned Parenthood from Jim! Yay! oh and congrats to Jim as well. He will be a home owner soon!

The end
It snowed yesterday in Amsterdam. Nothing stuck, but it was a beautiful sight. Funny that it snows on the first day of spring and the day after my birthday! Yea, My birthday…hehe. I turned 25 yesterday. I spent it in Amsterdam just as I did last year. Though this year I wasn’t with my boyfriend in a quaint little Italian restaurant. Instead, my friends cooked a nice curry dinner for me and baked tons of cupcakes! I seriously ate about 9 cupcakes between yesterday and today and I have a ton more! Woot! Cupcakes are one of my favorite things in the entire world (see header). :) Anywho, great dinner/wine with friends and that was it. My flatmates decorated the flat with balloons and a typical Dutch streamer. I promise I’ll post pics as soon as I get them uploaded.
Nice of them all to go through trouble for me. I had a really crap week. My laptop is dead! Yes, my mac-y poo has died. :( It started with a small crack in the frame of the screen and now the entire thing is disjointed and doesn’t work at all. It powers on to a blank screen. Not sure what I’m going to do about it. In fact, the whole thing stresses/frustrates me so much that mac-y poo is in a box and shoved under my bed. I’ll probably decide on Monday what to do. I can’t afford to upgrade to the mac I want right now and god forbid I have to buy a pc. blech!
So, I moved into a new place. It’s still in Oud Zuid Amsterdam about 8 minute bike ride from my old place. I absolutely love my neighborhood. Only problem is everything around here looks exactly the same. Every house is built the same with the same red bakfiets(dutch bike with a sort of boxcontainer attatched) leaning against the door. Needless to say, I’ve locked my bike at the wrong apartment a couple of times! I share the apartment with 2 girls who are also au pairs. One is from Australia and the other is from Denmark. The Danish girl is leaving next week and we will be getting a new girl shortly after. So far, I love the place, but i have a few complaints. It is so teeny! But that’s the price you pay to live in the city. Another thing is the floor…horrible hardwood floors. Don’t get me wrong I adore hardwood floors! (My dream house is covered in them!) But these are horrible. Every little step makes the loudest noise! Coming in late nights will be tough. Not to worry very much though. My roomies say they can sleep through anything and they are night owls too! I woke up really early this morning. About 7 am. not bad for being out until 3! I played warcraft until I felt it was a normal hour to be awake and then I showered and spent my morning at the albert cuyp market. I shouldn’t have gone!I ended up buying new b oots(it’s going to be spring soon what am I thinking!), black low heels, leggings, and some decorations for the apartment. I’ll take pics when I’m all done!I have a birthday coming up. In 2 weeks! Squee! It’s International Women’s Day! So hope all the ladies out there have a wonderful day!
